Fun Times With Beau

I can't believe Beau is 3 weeks old today. Josh and I have had so much fun with him. We both are still getting used to waking up every 2-3 hours and changing 20 diapers a day, but it is all worth it.
His 2 week doctor's appointment went well. He is 10% in his weight, 25% in his head and 50% in his height- very small dude!! He got snipped that day as well. I had to leave the room because I heard it was so sad to watch. I then felt bad leaving him, so either way it sucked. I'm just glad Josh wasn't home to see it!!
Beau is growing and changing so much everyday. I can't believe I just sit there for hours holding him and watching him. He truely is the most precious thing. I don't kow how people can have more than one because I don't ever think I could love something as mcuh as I love him.
Here are a few pics of Beau these past few weeks.

Beau's first bath... he kind of hated it. He likes it except when you pour water on him.

Josh loves to hold Beau and watch TV. He's already trying to make him left handed so he can be a very valuable pitcher!!!

The Arrival

I went into the hospital on October 8th at 7:00 am to finally be induced. I'm not sure which was worse, knowing that he was coming that day or waiting around for him to come on his time. Josh and I walked into our room which had a huge jetted tub. Josh was very excited!! I had to explain to him that it was only used for women who were going natural and I for sure wanted the drugs!! The nurse got me all set up on Pitocin, after poking me 4 times!! I have bad veins. Then I sat there and waited and waited and waited. To be honest I was very bored. Josh kept telling me to get some sleep but I just couldn't, not with my IV in my arm and the blood pressure cuff blowing up every 20 minutes. My contractions were about every 3-4 minutes apart and lasting about a minute and a half but were still manageable. The nurse came in and checked me and I was 5 cm dilated and kept asking me if I was doing ok and if I wanted the epidural. I told her I was doing fine. After she left I kept asking Josh if I should get the epidural yet, he told me it was better sooner than later!! So I rang for the nurse and she was saying everyone was wondering when I was going to get one. Apparently my contractions were bad... but I was ok. A few minutes later in walks this 90 year old man, not one of those cute old men, one of those awnry old timers!! Yep.. he was my anesthesiologist!! Let me just tell you this guy was a prick!! He kept yelling at the nurse and then lectured me on how I wasn't thinking about an epidural when I got the tattoo on my back!! Josh and I just sat there not knowing what to do or say. I mean we couldn't piss off the guy who was about to stick me with a 10 inch needle in my spine!! The actual epidural didn't hurt so much it was just a very weird sensation. Even weirder when you can't feel your legs! After my epidural, my Dr came in and broke my water. He told me I would probably dilate 1 cm an hour and push for 2 hours so I could expect a baby around 8 pm. At this time it was 2 o'clock. I just kept thinking "crap, what the heck am I going to do for 6 hours???" Luckily, the baseball playoffs were on so that kept me entertained. I slowly tried to get some sleep, but again all the wires made it a bit hard. About 45 minutes later I felt the urge to push. I started freaking out and told Josh to get the nurse. She came in and said "Oh, that's because your a 10!!" Holy crap!! I thought I had 6 hours to get ready for this but ready or no he was coming. She called the doctor and he was so shocked. We should've guessed it because my pregnancy the last 2 weeks was anything but normal. He got all ready and I pushed for about 30 minutes and out popped our little angel. While pushing, the Dr, nurse and Josh all took guesses on how much he would weigh. 8.5, 8.6 and 8.7 were their guesses. When the nurse told us he was 6.13 I about freaked!! Josh and I aren't the smallest people, how could this kid be ours!!! So funny!! I got to hold him for about 30 seconds before they took him to make sure everything was fine and clean him up. The next hour was hell!! The aftermath of having a baby is what no one tells you about!! After all was done, I was just so happy to finally get to hold Beau.

Last Pre Baby Post

This will be my last official post before our little one arrives. Here is what's been going on. 2 Fridays ago I left work feeling very sick. I was having contractions, was very pale and flu like. I called my doctors office and they had me come in. My blood pressure was pretty high so they did a blood test and hooked me up to a stress test monitor. Luckily the baby was happy and content and my blood test came back normal. I was just having false labor, which sucks!! I delt with everything til Sunday and it just got really bad. I was thinking for sure this was it! I went in, was hooked up to 2 monitors, one for my contractions and one for the baby's heart beat. The baby wasn't under any stress and I apparently wasn't dialating fast enough so I was given some percocet for my pain and was sent home. I went in for my weekly appointment the next day. The doctor I saw that day decided to strip my membranes to help get things going, since I was having contractions all weekend. He told me he would call the doctor on call and let him know that I maybe coming in that night, he was certain I would be going into labor. Well I did go to the hospital that night in what I thought was labor AGAIN, but unfortunately I wasn't dialating fast enough AGAIN so I got some percocet and got sent home AGAIN. I swore I was never going to be that girl who went in with every pain but I never knew what I was supposed to be feeling, I still don't!! The next day I went to my birthing class with my mom and was having major cramping, pressure and contractions. I was being very stubborn and refused to go into the hospital to be checked again. Everyone kept telling me to just go in, go in, nobody cares, blah blah. Josh, who was out playing baseball, even called and said he was taking me in. Third times a charm right??? WRONG! I was progressing just not at the rate they wouldve liked me to. I was now 3cm and 85%. The doctor on call wouldn't keep me because I still had 2 weeks left. The one thing I did learn was that my baby is "sunny side up". This means he is facing upwards which is why I'm having a hard time dialating. Why no one could tell me this before was beyond me!! The nurse let me know that my water would probaby break before baby decided to turn. So she gave me a shot of morphine and sent me home AGAIN!! I did sleep good that night and the entire next day which was fabulous. I swore I was NOT going into the hospital unless my water broke. I held on to my word til my weekly doctors appointment which was today. My doctor was so shocked to see me still pregnant!! He was for sure I wouldve had him already. I told him everything that had happened and he was shocked. He explained to me that they like to have the baby inside as long as possible to make sure he is fully developed. He then decided that he was pretty confident that the baby and I were ready. The next time he was on call is Thursday so he decided to schedule to induce me!! I couldn't have been more excited. I knew that if I had any more contractions and went back into the hospital the other doctors wouldve let me "cook" a little longer and couldve gone a week over before doing anything. I will be getting a call Wednesday to see what time I go in. They will start my IV's and give me pitocin and then my Dr will break my water and put will come our baby!! Good thing is I can get an epidural at anytime!! And yes I'm a baby and am fully choosing the meds! The Dr stripped my membranes again today to make sure I was good and thin to help with things on Thursday. I know anything can happen between now and then but the way things have gone, I'm not holding my breath. Josh is scheduled to go back to work on Wednesday but is working things out to stay a few extra days. I can't believe our son is going to be here in a few days. Its been a great 9 months and I really don't have much to complain about but I am so ready to hold and see our son. I can't believe were going to be parents!!

Pregnancy and All That Comes With It

My life has been filled with all sorts of exciting things in preparation for little Beau.
2 weeks ago I got my maternity pictures taken and am finally posting them. Sorry for the delay. I have been super busy. My sisters friend Erin has her own photography business and did such a great job. We tried to go up the canyon but the weather wasn't cooperating very much so we ended up at Wheeler Farm. She is also going to be doing my newborn pics as well. She is pregnant and is scheduled to have her baby on October 15- the day after my due date- so we'll definitely have to work it out.
So far I have had 3 showers and have 3 more to go!! Beau and I feel so spoiled! We have gotten so much stuff. I swear I am going to have to dress Beau in 2-3 outfits a day so he can wear all of his clothes. I want to thank my mom and sister; my mother in law andsister in law; and my girl friends for throwing me showers so far. I've got 2 work showers and a neighborhood shower coming soon. I appreciate all of the love and support we are receiving.
I am now 36 weeks pregnant and am starting to feel the end of pregnancy that most people say they have. I went from feeling really good to really tired and crampy. On Tuesday I am pretty sure I experienced my first set of contractions. My back had been hurting for a few days and I figured it was just because I was on my feet all day from work. But now I am sure that it is back labor. I was getting cramps and all hot and sweaty. It wasn't too bad where I needed to leave work or anything but it was just different. I am feeling fine today, just tired. Beau is still moving around like crazy. At my last visit his heart beat was great and I am measuring a little big- which again, I'm not surprised!! I am planning on a 9 pound baby!! I am still working full time, which a lot of people think I am crazy but in fact it has helped the time go by fast for me. I also think that its helped me stay feeling really good. I know if I didn't have to get up and go to work I'd be so lazy and sleep all day and never get anything done. I am now going to the Dr's every week. On Monday he will check to see the position of the baby and to see if I anything is happening as far as labor. As much as I want little Beau here now, I am in no way ready for him! I still haven't finished all my nesting projects. I also haven't finished my child birth classes. I have loved going to them. The teacher is absolutely wonderful. It is very informative. There are so many things I wouldn't even think about doing that need to be done and make things easier for me when I do need to go to the hospital.
It's coming down to the wire and Josh and I will be parents before we know it. We are both so excited. Because of Josh's job, we're not sure if he will be here when I go into labor. Being induced early isn't an option so we will just leave it up to nature. I've got my mom and sister to be my coaches if Josh doesn't make it. I hope things work out that he will be here, I know it would mean a lot to him.I will try to keep you all updated on my progress sooner than I go into labor!! Thanks to everyone for their love and support for our growing family.

Baby Update

I am now 32 weeks pregnant. I can’t believe how fast it has gone by. I have 2 months jammed packed with showers, work and getting everything ready before he arrives. These 8 weeks are going to fly by. I am now going to my doctors every 2 weeks. Everything is right on track. The baby’s heart beat is normal, 150, like it has been the whole time. I am measuring a little big, which doesn’t surprise me… Beau has gotten some BIG genes with me and Josh!!! I am staying with in the normal weight range, for now, I can’t help eating all the time. I do feel like a turkey though. My belly button is ready to pop out anytime- just like a tukey timer. I am feeling pretty good. I just get tired easily and can’t do things I used to or for as long. Beau is such a mover. Every night around 7 until I go to bed he tosses and turns. For the first little while it’s amazing to watch my belly poke out and move around and take on different shapes but after a while he really makes me nauseas. I’ve put him in time out numerous times!! The only thing I wish I could do better is sleep. I can’t get comfortable for the life of me. And when I get half way there, uh I have to pee!!! It’s all ok though, I’ve told myself I’m going to be tired for the rest of my life so I’m getting used to it.
I know I promised a belly picture, one better than the picture in our vacation post, but I haven’t had the time. I know it’s s
ad. BUT I did schedule my pregnancy pictures for next Monday and am so excited for it!!! I will definitely post those pictures when I get them back.
Here are a few pictures of the nursery, which is pretty much done. I loved how it turned out. The decor is vintage classic Winnie the Pooh. The crib was Josh's when he was little. I was slightly nervous about the condition becasue it was so old but it is in perfect shape. Not only is it a very nice crib it has sentimental value. I can’t wait to spend all my time in there with out little bundle of joy.

Baseball

Josh has picked up yet another hobby!! He has joined a baseball league. He has been wanting to do this for a while now and finally found a league he could play in. He is now a Salt Lake Devil. Because of his work schedule, it will be a little hard but the coach said they’d work everything out. He had his first game last Tuesday and I was a wreck!! I can’t believe how nervous I was. Josh had been running and going to the batting cages everyday for weeks getting ready. He even got an early birthday present; a new bat, new gloves, new pants, new sliding shorts and a new hat!! (And boys think we ask for a lot!) I was so impressed with Josh playing!! He played 1st base the whole game and did so great. He hit amazing as well. He can still work on his running but he defiantly kept up. I can’t wait to go to more of his games.

Anniversary

On August 6th Josh and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary. I can’t believe it has been that long. We decided to keep it really low key this year. Josh cooked dinner for the 2 of us. I do have to say I was really surprised at what a good job he did. He usually tries to go over board but did everything perfect. He cooked stuffed peppers, corn on the cob and then had dessert. After dinner we just cuddled up on the couch and watched a movie. It was so nice to have just the 2 of us together. Not having to worry about dinner reservations or gifts. I am so lucky to have such an amazing husband. I appreciate everything he does for our family. I’ve never known anyone who works as hard as he does or who does as much laundry!!! I love you so much babe and can’t wait for the next 40 years with you.
